We are hosting an incredible fundraiser to help those in need in Puerto Rico on Sunday, October 8th. Join us for a traditional Puerto Rican supper for $10 a plate and live music outdoors from Liquid Pleasure, the Grateful Dads and Pete Joyner Quartet. Neighboring Midway businesses are getting in on the action--Baxters, Beer Study and Belltree Speakeasy are doing drink specials and donating to the cause.
All proceeds will be donated to United For Puerto Rico, an organization started by the First Lady of Puerto Rico to directly help those most affected and in need in the wake of recent devastation from this hurricane season.
We'll be serving up a traditional Puerto Rican feast with Smoked Chicken and Roasted Pork with Mojo Sauce, Tostones (Crispy Fried Plantains) with Roasted Garlic Aioli, Black Beans and Yellow Rice with Pigeon Peas for $10 per plate. US Foods has graciously donated ingredients for this Puerto Rican supper. Order at the counter and step outside with your plate to hear the music!
The event is free and everyone is invited. We'll be raising money from food and drink sales and will have donation jars to raise additional funds. If you cannot make it out or want to help more, you can also donate online at http://unidosporpuertorico.com/en.
